YOUTH WRESTLING----ABINGTON HEIGHTS, CLARKS SUMMIT and the ABINGTONS.

SUMMIT WRESTLING--Practicing SPORTSMANSHIP, learning TECHNIQUE, and demonstrating both in COMPETITION.  Join the club and build CONFIDENCE, develop DISCIPLINE, make FRIENDS, win TROPHIES, and most of all HAVE FUN.

The Summit Youth Wrestling Club is dedicated to providing a wrestling experience for the children of the area.  New wrestlers and experienced wrestlers from kindergarten through sixth grade are welcomed to join. Practices are two nights a week from mid-November through mid-March (experienced wrestlers have an optional third practice). A full schedule of dual meets and local tournaments are planned so that every club member of every ability level will have a competitive challenge. All our coaches are well qualified and have the PA state child abuse clearance.

Valuable Life Lessons Learned

Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards. The sport of wrestling is a microcosm of society. It teaches you about work ethic, character, discipline, humility, and perseverance. In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins, not through strength, but through perseverance. It’s through perseverance that our wrestlers have learned that at the heart of every defeat, is the seed of a future victory. While the defeats can be heartbreaking, it’s encouraging to watch the kids come off the wrestling mat with dignity and professionalism.

CONGRATULATIONS to former Summit wrestler and  2010 Abington Heights graduate Evan Craig on his PIAA state championship in the AAA 285 pound weight class.   He was unscored upon and pinned his four opponents.   This is his fourth state medal (8th, 2nd, 1st, 1st).  Evan has lost just one match in the last three years.  His four year record is 169-10 with 115 pins.  He finished his high school career with 92 straight wins.
